Guest guest
Please let me know what you find out from your Doctor about rheumatoid arthritis going along with Bronchiectasis. I have a Doctor appointment in June and then one at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester in August. Neither of my Doctors have ever mentioned this to me. I spoke with my Doctor at the Mayo Clinic after finding out I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. He is working with the RA Doctor on what medicine I should be taking, the medicine I am on hasn't helped much. - Subject: Re: mannitol studyTo: bronchiectasis Date: Tuesday, May 31, 2011, 9:04 PM Thanks Herb for the information about your Mother. I am so sorry she is having so many problems. This disease is torture. I don't remember if you ever mentioned how long she has had Bronch. I want to avoid as many medications as possible. My husband and I are also dealing with a Mother-in-law who is 104 and a Mother who is 92......sometimes it gets overwhelming. Thank you for sharing this about your Mother. Wondering.........is anyone on antidepressants with >this disease?Hi,My mother has severe problems with depression and anxiety at least in part due to bronchiectasis. It's been a nightmare for her. Every day is torture. The doctors have tried several drugs ( Remeron, Paxil, Effexor, Xanax and one more I can't remember ). They all caused her problems right from the beginning. ( Some of this might be her thinking they caused problems. Pretty much everything doctors try makes her feel worse, she says. I hesitated to say all that but we have been through dozens of meds and therapies for a variety of conditions and she rejects almost all of them because they make her "sick". )The one drug she has stuck with the most is Xanax. It does seem to sometimes help with the anxiety but now I think we are getting into some long term bad side effects like memory problems, can't think straight, body movement problems, fatigue, emotional numbness. The fact that she drinks some wine each day( 7 to 10 ounces ) to make it through the day intensifies the side effects, I have read and heard.I wish doctors would consider something other than drugs for depression and anxiety but that's all we ever get and she has had 5 different doctors prescribe some kind of depression and anxiety drug.I have no idea what to do next. Nothing helps. She just gets worse with the depression and anxiety. She is just a shell of a person. A word of advice: Try to deal with sooner rather than later and be aggressive in getting answers from doctors.-- Herb Schilling
