They are purchased at Natural Grocers refrigerated so I keep them in my freezer. And raw sunflower seeds on my salads. 11) I buy large amounts of seasonal fruit on sale (like 25 pounds black grapes for .99/pound, 20 pounds strawberries, etc) and juice em and freeze em in bpa free containers. 12) We do not buy traditional head lettuce but salads always include broccoli, red cabbage, carrots (not those mini carrots -bad), kale, spinach, etc with virgin organic cold pressed olive oil and a bit of balsamic vinegar 13) We no longer buy or eat any processed foods like anything in a can, box dinners, frozen dinners, salad dressings, lunch meat... everything is made from scratch, today was chili made from organic pinto & kidney beans and 2 quarts frozen tomatoes from last years garden. Below is a formated chart I made quite awhile ago and pasted it to this message so I do not know how the formatting will come out _*Bad*_ _*Good*_ Processed foods Fresh vegetables Grains - all Fresh fruit Pasteurized dairy products Raw dairy products Genetically modified foods Range fed chicken eggs Store bought meat Range fed meat Roasted nuts Raw nuts (except peanuts) MIlk Chocolate Dark cocoa chocolate Processed vegetable oils Organic cold pressed olive oil (salads) Sugar Organic cold pressed coconut oil (cooking) Artificial sweeteners Stevia natural sweetener Table salt Sea or Himalayan salt Bottled & tap water Pure home filtered water We have had lots of discussions on this list about supplements but I still take several supplements to keep my immune system healthy. Guest guest
Thanks so much, Rick. It is my daughter who has TSC and has also gained soooo much weight. She is just devastated by that but, honestly, hasn't done enough with her eating habits. I incorporate much of what you describe but in a very " lightened " version ie I eat frozen vegies adn I do eat cheese and whole wheat bagels (and popcorn). I will try to find an opportune moment to share this with her when I feel I can do so without offending her. She is 21 and a boyfriend of 4 years recently broke up with her so.... Gratefully, Randee Diet Randee Shenkel said the following on 3/2/2012 7:06 AM: > Share your dietary changes, Rick...and yay for the continued improvements!
