Guest guest
LymeResearchUK , is a community group of volunteers, founded by Kate Bloor (BSc Human sciences; MSc Sociology health and illness; MSc Science and technology policy). Its main aim is to explore and engage with research that is related to policy and practice on tick-borne infections (TBI's), in the UK and Eire. This includes both doing new (primary) research but also looking at existing research, and linking this to both existing policy, and patient's experience. The idea is to generate primary research information, that reflects on how policy affects patients. We also use new and emerging science, or clinical evidence of various kinds, or policy research, that reflects on key issues around how practices could be improved. Expertise and approach Members of the group have a wide range of backgrounds including: Industrial R & D, microbiology, biochemistry, epidemiology etc., in government, academia and commerce. The approach taken is multidiscipliniary, and includes a variety of different academic and other investigative methods. The information that is generated, is useful for policymakers, doctors, patients, professionals or groups and organisations (whose members are more at risk of TBI's), public health bodies, etc, who wish to improve policy on, and services for people with TBI's
