Hi Vicki

The leg cramps are most likely due to neuropathy...which is nerve damage due

to the diabetes. I was having trouble with cramps (like charley horses)

during the night. My doctor prescribed quinine sulfate (250 mg) and it

worked like a charm. Cramps were gone. One precaution - I developed a rash

on my neck that was UNBEARABLE! The dermatologist said that his first

suspect was the quinine sulfate. I stopped taking it and the rash

disappeared, thank heavens. Fortunately the cramps have not returned. My

blood sugar is in better control, so that may have helped. Those cramps can

be wicked. Maybe this would work for you hopefully minus the itch!

Thanks, Carol! I do intend on asking my doctor about quinine.

I bought a small bottle of pills called Hyland's Leg Cramps with

Quinine at Wal-Mart. I have been taking them when my legs start

getting that tingling feeling, and they are helping. It doesn't say

anywhere on the bottle how many mg's they are though! Did you have to

take the pills daily, or only when your legs cramped?
