Guest guest
Yesterday I received the results which states that I have a 3.5 x 3.7 soft tissue mass in the superior segment of the right lobe. More superiorly, there are 4 smaller soft tissue densities present and may represent satellite lesions. This is most suspicious for neoplasm. My Plumonologist will review these CAT scan x-rays today and probably schedule a bronchoscopy. This is a complete shock for me and I am frightened. Has anyone in the group had any experience with a similiar situation? EILEEN-FL
Guest guest
Eileen - I was sorry to read about your CAT scan results.......this definitely is scary for you and I hope they find that it is benign. I had several years ago a suspecious spot in the lower left lobe and had a PET scan and it showed it was not cancer, which was good news. Several months later I had a CAT scan and it had disappeared. I will keep you in my prayers that this will happen for you. I hope you will have the bronchoscopy soon and can find out exactly what it is. Guest guest
Eileen, about 8 yrs ago I went thru the same thing. The first ct scan looked suspicious, so I had 2 more after that. They decided it must be scar tissue. I guess when you have bronch the xrays appear weird if they're not sure what to look for. We're all sending our prayers to you. Guest guest
hi Eileen, I haven't had a result report like the one you describe and understand why you would be frightened. I know I would be too. With bronch so many 'funny' patches come up on scans and x-rays because of cysts or some fibrosis or glugs of mucous .... which is why it's good your drs are doing further tests just to be really sure. We are sending you our positive thoughts and wishes to you easy breathing joy h

Guest guest
Hi Eileen, I am so sorry to hear about your results. I am hoping that the bronchoscopy will show that this is something that can be treated and has a positive outcome for you. I will pray that all goes well for you. Cindi W. Guest guest
hi Eileen, I've had CT scans and bronchoscopies. I seem to always have have something more than before ... but life goes on and I figure if I don't know what something is then I won't be able come to terms with it. From what I've been told it's rare for cancer to develop in bronchiectatic lungs - I think because the cells actually need healthy cells for the cancer to grow... I add my prayers and wishes for you too, for negative results. It just might be scarring, some fibrosis ... try not to think and pre- guess ! I know that's not the easiest but have found it the only way to cope with that waiting time .... hugs joy h
Guest guest
hi Joan, apparently the lung is one of the few organs that don't repair necrosis as some other parts of body do - but is capable of stretching enormously to cope with any damage it receives - otherwise we probably would be much worse! joy h (Aust)
