Guest guest
Gilbert say's, in his book, The Compassionate Mind, that hunans have an immense capacity for ralaxation (or something like that) - personally I think cats are much better at it. But for many of us with nervous illness, though, this abilty seems to completely go, and isn't this wretched?. My ACT books would really scare me when it came to accpeting unpleasant things, I would find myself tensing up and getting really paniky just reading this. Then they might say that even when you are on your boat enjoying the sae, let the monsters on board too, if they want to come. - what! In my favourite ACT book , The CBT Practioners Guide To ACT, there are cartoons of all these horrible monsters sitting there crammed in a very small boat with you. Hmmmm, now who in their right mind would let that onboard with them? Well, it's not my idea of a picnik, anyway. But this week something strange happened, and that despite feeling very uncomfortable, and in a fair amount of physical pain due to my hemoroids (I'm so poorly right now) I felt at times such gorgeous peace and some degree of happiness too, although everything still felt all wrong, especially me! Hey! Perhaps I'm beginning to get some of this stuff now, so if we learn to fully accept then that calm responce that Gilbert talks about can kick in, which feels really nice! Right now I'm qu'ite excited about all this, so maybe those monsters don't you much so hurt much afterall when you welcome them in and hug them. Crumbs! I think I can handle this. ---- 'Hey! What's that you have got in your hand. Eww, yuk, now put in your pocket and come here with us'. Kv
