Guest guest
I have muscle loss in my left leg -- it is much weaker than my good leg, and I have loss of dorsiflexion in the ankle. Although it is still weaker than my right leg, and a smaller in diameter (loss of muscle), I have noticed huge improvements in my strength in that leg with my pilates on the reformer machine (we do leg exercises with resistance, same as weight training basically). I've been doing the pilates 2x week for 4 years, with a couple of breaks for surgeries. My knees are also way better. I also have an area in my calf muscle that is " indented " on both legs from some muscle wasting. I would encourage you to look into strenghtening exercises for your weaker limbs -- they will never be the same as the " normal " ones but should help with keeping your function. I found out that I don't have the muscle mass that I should in my right leg. He says it's most likle been like that for years. He also found that my right hand is the same way. I'm right handed. You would think my left hand would be the more fragile. He said I have a good chance of my fingers curling and not having the function I should. I decided to give up the fight for disablility and signed up for online school. The job will be a lot of typing. I'm a bit worried now. Have any of you had this in either the arm or leg? Is there anything I can do to stop this? Thanks, Kellie
