Guest guest
Hi Joy, no worries about the name recogntion since I have been mostly a lurker and on the few occassions where I responded I would usually forget to sign my name! LOL. I have actually been lurking for about 2 years now, getting info and passing it on to my mom who was diagnosed with bronch. As to the Mod topic..... There have been several times where I have gone into the archives of this group searching for specific info, that is why we need to keep this group open. It has been a while since I was a List Owner of a group, so many of the details escape me at the moment. I don't remember what happens to a group if there is no activity on it for a while. I *think* it can just sit there. Only the original creator (List Owner) is able to delete it entirely. People can belong to any number of various Yahoo Groups, so that won't be a problem if a new group is started. The approval of new members to THIS list will continue to be a problem as you, Joy, are the only one with those privileges and cannot pass those duties to any one else. The approval of new members helps to keep levels of spam low, or at least those who join just to spam ads. Joy, are you able to carry out any other list duties with your limited privileges (such as ammend the 'welcome' page of the Group)? The 2 largest Bronch Yahoo groups are 'our' group which is at the link below, created by Di back in Sept 2001 (!), and currently has about 350 members. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/bronchiectasis/ and the bronchiectasis_support group at this link with around 270 members http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Bronchiectasis_support/ No doubt many of us probably already belong to both Groups. There is also the possibility that we could migrate over to *that* group and continue sharing with everyone there. Yup, this is a tough situation, but a new group will be needed in order to be able to assign multiple Mods with full privileges and take the full advantage of the Group features. * Subject: Re: moderator ....To: bronchiectasis Date: Monday, June 20, 2011, 7:51 AM Thanks Liana for your excellent explanation, your ideas of having folders for articles such as "how to treat bronch" sound excellent. I have a stack of articles I've researched over the past few years - folders labelled 'medications', 'bronch etc' (gerd, sinusitis etc), 'pathogens', 'equipment', 'general info' etc etc. How much more useful to have them available to anyone looking up any of these without the time-consuming "vetting" I did in the process (ie weeding out sus sources). It would certainly be great to have ideas such as yours put into action.btw I don't recognise your name as one cropping up before now. Are you a "lurker"? - no offence meant! I realise some people read info and posts, and choose not to write oftencheers, joy h (Oz)
