Guest guest
Oh my Gosh, and You are so right. I am sure there are many many more programs (certainly more funding) for those with addiction (for whom I do feel sympathy for many but anyway...) than there are for pain patients!! For anyone who has tried to find a true multidisciplinary pain center, they know the truth of this. There isn't a lot of money to be made in treating chronic pain (versus acute pain) so they are few and far between plus almost none that also have psychiatry, psychology, neuology, physical therapy...I worked at two of these. One closed it's doors. randee In a message dated 11/23/2011 5:12:16 A.M. Central Standard Time, patriciafischer@... writes: I cannot feel sorry for the people that choose to abuse these drugs. Being an addict is a choice and the doctor's should monitor the medications to stop some of the people from abusing them. The addicts make it hard for people with actual pain to get the medications they need. I don't quite understand why society feels sorry for the addicts instead of holding them accountable for what they are doing. There are plenty of programs available to help these people, they choose to take the drugs and refuse to get help. By the way there are probably more programs for them than there is for us that have a REAL medical problem. For these reasons, I totally agree with . It seems in our society the drug addict is more important than a patient:( To: tetheredspinalcord From: lilacs007@... But when I moved to this pain clinic and told my doc my sob story she did pull all my meds from CVS and Walgreens (w/o my knowledge) and made sure I told her the truth about old meds/doc. Thankfully I did. All I know is.. It's a CHOICE to take that " extra " pill and get high. Everyone keeps feeling sorry for people " hijacked " by these terrible, evil meds.. so a drug addict is more important than a patient?
