Guest guest
Ora- Celebrex is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory. It is a new generation anti-inflammatory that is often prescribed for patients whose stomachs cannot tolerate most anti-inflammatories. I am guessing that my pain may have been due to inflammation. I am not pain-free, but I am doing better. Christy
Guest guest
My point was that since it's function is to stop pain caused by inflammation, then my vulvodynia must be caused by inflammation.
Guest guest
Isn't Celebrex a pain med?. I doubt it cures anything - just stops the pain. My sister was taking it for what the doctor told her was arthritis but it turned out that she needed a hip replacement which was getting worse daily because she was being treated for something else. Guest guest
My point was that since it is a strong pain med. it should stop the pain (anywhere in your body). Guest guest
Celebrex also stops pain not caused by inflammation. Guest guest
Hi to Christy and all, I've really enjoyed this thread on Celebrex. I've never taken it before, but one of my uncles did for his arthritic pain and he did get some relief. But he did say something that I found interesting when Mom talked to him about being impatient with it when her dr gave it to her. He told her that in order to get good results from it (and this works for a lot of other anti-inflammatories b/c I used to take Relafen at one time for my arthritis) you need to take it every single day for about 3 weeks. Well, Mom took it for about 2 months and I think maybe a little longer and she found that it didn't do her much good. She tried several others and found that the Vioxx is what has worked the best for her. She takes that for the pain in her left knee that is caused by a tear of the cartillage in one part of her left knee. The anti-inflammatory that I'm finding works best for me as far as the bladder pain that I was having last week and off and on for about 3 months that is making my dr think that I have IC even though I do think that it's the endometriosis doing this to me is an NSAID called Ponstel that is sometimes used to treat arthritis but has also been known to help the cramping that comes with PMS (it was b/c of PMS that I was introduced to this drug 3 years ago). It has also helped with some of the vulvar pain even though it seems to be doing more for my vulvar area. Has anyone ever tried this drug for their vulvar pain? If so what did you think of it? If anyone has questions for me about the use of this drug please don't hesitate to ask. Also, on a non-vulvodynia note I would just like to say that the funeral service for my grandma this afternoon went well and we had quite a turn out. In addition to the cards of sympathy that we've gotten from different family members and friends my dr and her staff gave me a surprise of their own. They had a fruit basket as well as a card from all of them sent to me. Seeing that made me feel really good. I do hope that all of you are well and I will talk to all of you again later. Ora how are you holding up these days? I think I am in remission - hope it lasts a while. I have been using the rice flour whenever I get irritation from the heat but the weather has cooled down and do not need it very often lately. I made some A & D cream by mixing a little Longs Dry Skin Cream and cod liver oil from the capsules. The stuff in the tubes does not work very well for me. And I am using the Basis soap which really works better for me than the ivory that I was using before. I only use about twice a week. Thanks for asking. Guest guest
Ora, I went to the drugstore and they have 3 kinds of basis soap. One has tree tea oil in it and there are a couple of others. I was wondering if it matters which one you use. The tree tea oil could help with yeast I imagine. Thanks, Donna
Guest guest
Suzy- Thanks for the info on the Wobenzym. I will definitely look into it. I plan on going back on guai soon so I will have to be careful that it doesn't block me. Thanks for asking about my carpel tunnel. It seems to be getting better too--I think that celebrex is a wonder drug! My only symptom is occasional numbness in my fingers. Guest guest
I am not using the one with tree tea oil - mine is called Basis Sensitive Skin Bar. When I bought it they only had the one kind. Some of us have had good success with tree tea oil but I have never tried it. Guest guest
> Sometimes I think that doctors get their drug education from salesmen. Well, the doctor reads the " common " side effects. But there is always those " uncommon " or " rare " side effects that less than 2% of people get. Heaven forbid you fall into that rare 2%!! I had a side effect to an asthma drug---a pill that came out last year that was new. Well, I had bruises show up all over my body--I mean HUGE brusies--I had eye floaters and quite a few other side effects. None of which were on their common or uncommon list. So of course the med could " NOT " be the reason he told me!! I went off and it went away. Went back on and it came back. Ok--to me that is a 100% sign that IT IS THE MED! Guess what--not to him!!! He said it was not on his " list " !!! Made me so mad---so I called the drug company that made it and asked them. They said they had only heard of a couple of people with that reaction but they always wanted to hear about others and that my doctor should have informed them as it was a new drug!! So the newer med sheets now say that " uncommon " can cause hematomas in sensitive individuals! HOORAY and no thanks to my doctor!! Of course I don't use it anymore! I have learned from this that I have to rely on myself and if I don't feel good about it--I won't take it. I had a pharmacist AND doctor once tell me that I should continue taking my Septra (sulfa med) for my UTI even though my windpipe closed up and my skin got welts on it! They said it didn't sound like an allergic reaction because I have taken Sulfa all my life with no problems and I didn't have a fever or severe symptoms of allergy to the med. I tell all my doctor's now that I AM allergic to Sulfa!! BURNS ME UP!! Lynn

It never happens the first time it is used. I had an allergic reaction to Ampicillin after I had used it for years with no problem.
