I used to get pneumonia twice a year but have not had any infections since I started taking bactrim. At the beginning, I was tested for pseudonamas but that came back negative. I believe I have a mild case of bronchiectasis therefore I don't have to do all those other treatments. How often do you take Bactrim? I am 77 years old and was diagnosed with bronch when I was 67 years old after about six years of being treated for allergies, sinus infections, asthma and bronchitis. My first bronchcoscopy indicated few pseudomonas cells were present. I had infections about once a year from various bacteria. Beginning 2008 I have had pseudomonas pneumonia every year until 2009 when I started having pseudomonas pneumonia twice a year. I use inhaled Xopenex and Mucomyst twice daily. The first 15 days of each month I follow that breathing treatment with inhaled Tobramycin to help control the pseudomonas. What bacteria is the Bactrim controlling? You are fortunate to have found an antibiotic that keeps you infection free. Norma
