Guest guest
me too Kay - grew up during teens in a tiny island off the bottom of Aus - Tasmania. Very beautiful, even winters (but cold!). There were communes, & Bill Mollison who developed Permaculture started off just south of city where we lived; an MP established the Greens (political party) in Australia, also began in Tassie. Likewise, I think a lot of this rubbed off on me, feel like I steered automatically to find places for markets; made own muesli, yoghurt, bread etc when younger and always took a home-made lunch to work unless occasional restaurant lunch... oh those were the days! joy
Guest guest
I hear you Joy! Have made yogurt, lots of breads, muesli, granola... I enjoy vanilla soy milk on its own, but much prefer the taste of cow's milk in coffee, although in a pinch I do soy milk in coffee. Guest guest
Hi, Since having breast cancer, I am not allowed anything with soy. I use Almond milk which I find really good. If you have never had breast cancer soy is not an issue. Cindi To: bronchiectasis Sent: Fri, July 13, 2012 2:53:31 AMSubject: Re: THERE IS HOPE FOR BRONCHS SUFFERERS! Guest guest
Hi all - I've found your conversation about dairy, etc fascinating.Ironic really as my specialist (also has bronchiectasis) has strongly recommended I increase my intake of dairy products - especially hard cheese, calcium rich milk. It is to try to tackle the osteoporosis I suffer from. When I mentioned about mucus build up she seemed unconcerned. I was also recommended by a dietician to eat porridge every morning, because like many bronchiectasis sufferers I tend to 'graze' as far as food is concerned. I suffer from severe osteoartritis. Never done any exercise in my life, don't intend to start now (at 61). This isn't a criticism - because I have heard similar recommendations from sufferers who have done exactly as suggested (diet, exercise, etc) and have felt much better. Whatever works for you.StevePS Haven't drunk coffee in decades - gives me headaches! Drink lots of tea though. Guest guest
Somehow, 2% milk in my coffee doesn't seem to bother me or my family. I haven't had lung congestion for several years and use some milk every day, but don't drink large amounts and have my oatmeal with dry fruit or part of a banana instead of milk and sugar. It's so bad for us that we stay off it when we have colds. Why? Because it produces more mucus and we don't need more than we already have stuck in our lungs :-) ... Sheep and goats products are great alternatives x>> NOTE - WE'VE SHIFTED BACK TO OLD GROUP, JUST A REMINDER TO KEEP AN EYE ON THIS AND FORWARD TO BRONCH1 :~))> > Begin forwarded message:> > Date: 13 July 2012 5:03:20 PM AEST> To: bronchiectasis > Subject: Re: THERE IS HOPE FOR BRONCHS SUFFERERS!
