Guest guest
I am 24 and have VVS. The pain of insertion is so excruciating that I have never been able to use a tampon or have intercourse. Doctors assured me that I just needed to relax and that everything would be ok when I got married – they assumed I had been raped or abused, which is not the case. I have been married for 9 mos. – and it is not ok. Fortunately, my new doctor is good and she properly diagnosed me at once. I've been taking desipramine. Also been using dilators to get rid of the vaginismus reaction from earlier incompetent gyno exams. That's gone well. Unfortunately, the pain has not subsided and my doctor has decided there's nothing more she can help me with and is referring me to a specialist, " probably for surgery. " My husband and I don't think surgery is a good option, or at any rate the next one. It's not supposed to be so helpful for people with primary VVS like me. So we're looking around, thinking about the low oxalate diet and biofeedback etc. My question for the list: did any of you have primary VVS (that is, pain from the " first time " on) and if so, what treatments have you tried? Anyone have pain reduction? I feel very desperate. The emotional side of this is hell – it's been forever justto get people to believe me, and now that my families know I feel pressure to `fix' things fast – yeah, right! I spend so much time in dread of some dire disease or feeling like a freak of nature… anyone out there like me?
