Guest guest
I have not yet done a MRI scan on my son, but have read that some suggest Virchow Robbins spaces to be an early sign of multiple sclerosis - an inflammatory disease of the central nervous system. One of the suggestive causes is the early death of oligodendrocytes (a variety of neuroglia). It might be worthwhile to check on the levels of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1).http://www.mult-sclerosis.org/howms.htmlLiminOn Jan 2, 2011, at 04:40 PM, and Freeman wrote:Anyone have any experience with Virchow Robbins (VR) spaces in their child’s MRI scans? Guest guest
Elaine DeLack who has been researching on addressing MAO-A (a mitochondrial enzyme) deficiency as treatment for multiple sclerosis found that the same treatment is effective for a subgroup of children diagnosed with autism. She believes that a perfect timing of coupling a newborn's genetics of MAO-A deficiency with being delivered by a mom using epidural with pitocin can induce autism in the newborn. My son does not have MAO-A deficiency genetically. But, because I delivered him via C-section using epidural with pitocin, I am interested in her research work. Here is DeLack's presentation at AutismOne:http://www.autismone.org/content/deficiency-mitochondrial-enzyme-mao-may-be-possible-etiology-autism-elaine-delack-rnLimin--http://www.healthbylimin.com/Young Living Distributor # 1111136"Follow those who seek the truth, but flee from those who have found it."-- Unknown originI have not yet done a MRI scan on my son, but have read that some suggest Virchow Robbins spaces to be an early sign of multiple sclerosis - an inflammatory disease of the central nervous system. Guest guest
IGF-1 feeds axons - a long, slender projection of a nerve cell, or neuron, that conducts electrical impulses away from the neuron's cell body. Guest guest
Hi Limin, Does she talk about a possible treatment plan for it? Any info on that might help alot here. A lot of us had pitocin and epidural during child birth!!! Thanks, sasmita > > > >> > >> > >> Anyone have any experience with Virchow Robbins (VR) spaces in their child's MRI scans? > >> > >> > >> > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Yes, she suggests Respen-A. You might want to talk to parents who have experiences with this, as there are pros and cons of this treatment. Guest guest
Limin, how do you check for MAO-A def? I was reading about oxytocin, dr stoller rec this for my son as nose spray but I have no idea how to get him to do this, anyway, it said that pitocin can cause jaundice, which my son had severe case of day two of his life, I was givin pitocin and epidural also... deborah > > > >> > >> > >> Anyone have any experience with Virchow Robbins (VR) spaces in their child's MRI scans? > >> > >> > >> > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Deborah, We did Yasko nutrigenomic testing panel for both my ASD and NT boys. The panel includes MAO-A as one of the SNPs. She renamed the test " Comprehensive Methylation Panel " . But it actually also includes genes/enzymes on urea cycle, neurotransmitter (BH4) cycle, folate cycle, and transsulfuration pathway. I just ordered the test panel for myself. The price has been reduced greatly. It was an expensive test when we did it for the boys some years ago. http://www.holisticheal.com/health-tests/nutrigenomic-testing/comprehensive-meth\ ylation-panel-with-methylation-pathway-analysis.html Oxytocin is not recommended for seizure kids, as seizure is one of the known side effect. We nebulized the injection form briefly. We didn't experience any side effect. In fact, we didn't experience any difference. My son is affectionate; his autism does not affect him in this aspect of his personality. I didn't feel that we can have noticeable gains from oxytocin. Autism Speaks is funding a new study in which autistic children as young as 3 will receive oxytocin. You can google the info, in case you are interested in participating. Guest guest
Limin, Is the Yasko test urine or blood ? I would like to do it on the 3 of us and I wonder if it can be done from Australia. Guest guest
Olga, It is a blood test. But it does not require blood draw at a lab. It only needs a couple drops of blood. You can just poke one of the fingers and squeeze out a couple drops of blood to send to the lab. The test kit comes with a home kit for getting blood samples. I know several individuals who live outside of the US have done this test. You can call Yasko's office to inquire. They are running a promotion right now. With the order of this test, they give credits for exchanging 4 bottles of mutation-specific RNA drops. The retail price is $85 per bottle. You then can decide on which RNA drops you need, after you receive the test result. Guest guest
Limin, After you receive the test results from the Yasko's nutrigenomic testing panel who do you ask to interpret the results? I have heard that these test could be very helpful but also that parents are supposed to do the homework of researching what is in the norm and what not, or may be this is what her new book is supposed to help with? We have never done any genetic testing for my son, because his autism was not from birth but started after he turned 2 years old, however he has been such a slow responder to everything we have done so far that keeps me wondering if we are not missing some genetic predisposition. I am very very tempted to order this test as wel... Or may be we can hire you to help us interpret the results? (just kidding). Guest guest
Limin, Thanks for your reply. It looks simple to do the test (like the blood live analysis) and that is an advantage as we all had blood drawn lately and I wouldn't like the boys to have another one I will give them a call to order the kits.
