Guest guest
Kat, I agree. The Nutrasweet bothers me more than the one with sucrose. I didn't even realize that they came two ways until recently. I used to take the one with sucrose but for whatever reason this time they gave me the one with Nutrasweet. I'm going back to the old stuff as soon as this is gone! (38, dx PSC/UC 1983)
Guest guest
Hi Kat, has adapted to the nutrasweet version. I will tell him about the sucrose stuff. How do you mix that " pleasant " medicine? makes it into a milk shake. He can handle it mixed in milk and then uses a glass of water as a chaser. That seems to have helped him over the years. Guest guest
Since November I have been taking cholestyramine. A question for those of you who are taking it and whom have taken it -- have you tried both the cholestyramine with artificial sweetner (i.e. Nutrasweet) and the kind made with sucrose? Is it just me or is sucrose much easier to handle? For the first three months that I took this medication, I had the kind made with Nutrasweet and Aspartame, and I really disliked having to take it, for a variety of reasons. I recently was able to acquire the cholestryamine made with sucrose and I am finding that it is much easier for me to take. I am definitely not going back to the artificial sweetner! It is remarkable the difference from my experience - less chalky, no aftertaste, easier to mix, etc. - Kat (21 yrs. old, PSC Oct. 2001)
