When I'm really relaxed or tired, I don't yawn. When I'm trying to get to sleep but can't, I yawn more often. a

I get the same exact thing, have all my life, and no, it's not tinnitus. However, I do get the " ringing " caused from tinnitus in more recent years (left ear). Totally different thing. a

It's not very loud so mostly unnoticeable. I don't know if it is a form of tinnitus or something else. Genyin -- " I know the answer! The answer lies within the heart of all mankind! Guest guest
If it's permanent and you *do* nothing to get it, then likely it's tinnitus. Even I have a weak one from time to time... even right now. Haven't figured out yet with what it correlates in ordinary life, for it comes in daily 'waves'. It was stronger after being too near some LOUD bangs (the cannons of Austerlitz reenactment ;-) and decreased after a year or so. It seemed to increase with some medications (like Wellbutrin = bupropion) - now stopped. Someone I know has a permanent ringing from anti-malaria medication taken years ago....
