Dear Group:

I have been trying to locate Doug , D.O., NREMT-P, who often posts to

this group. I wanted to let him know of a new organization of former paramedics

who are now physicians. Also, I wanted to discuss some disparaging remarks he

made about the Dallas and Houston EMS systems and their respective

medical directors in an email on August 5, 2000. He didn't answer my email. I

looked him up in the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), Texas Osteopathic

Medical Association (TOMA), American Medical Association (AMA), and Texas

Medical Associations (TMA) directories. There was no Doug listed.

The AOA directory is good about listing all D.O.s in the United States whether

members or not. I checked with the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and

they do not list a Doug , D.O. as being licensed to practice medicine in

Texas. So, I called a friend at the National Registry of EMTs. They

do not have a Doug registered in Texas as an EMT or Paramedic. I

called the Texas Department of Health and they do not have a Doug

registered with a level of certification above EMT. I called the state's only

osteopathic medical school (UNTHSC/TCOM) and they do not have a Doug

listed as a graduate or current student. I cannot figure this out. The only two

options that come to mind are that he is in the military and not a member of any

medical organization or is using a pseudonym. I really do not have a problem

with someone using a pseudonym on these lists, but I am a little

concerned when they hold themselves out to be a physician. Many will take

medical comments made by physicians as fact and this may not be the case. If

anybody personally knows Dr. or where he works, could you email me

personally? If I have made an error in this, then I humbly apologize to him and

will apologize to the list.. If I haven't, then what's up?

Sincerely,

E. Bledsoe, D.O., FACEP, FAAEM
