Hi all,

I would love to know this also. I am wondering if Dr. Milhorat will be able to see if my tonsils are herniated more than the 3 mm shown on MRI, and if there is anything else going on, if he doesn't go into the dura.

Thanks,maureen

Hello,

I've seen a couple of posts the past few days stating the actual herniation was much more severe than the MRI showed.

At one of the first appts. I had with my nsg, he said my herniation didn't look like as if it was causing any crowding problems , but that the MRI's did not show all. He said many of patients had severer problems with crowding than what showed up on MRI films.

I was wondering if many members are told after surgery that their crowding/herniation was much worse than what showed on films?

Thanks,

As I've been trying to say during my short time here -- testing for

herniation length (especially for the short mm'ers) while on one's back in

an MRI machine is not the position in which most have thier longest mm

length or their most crowding -- that would be when standing or sitting

upright.

there are factors that can effect (especially for the short mm'ers) -- the

mm length that is shown on a particular MRI.

My MRI showed an 8mm herniation and I was told " it's not that bad. " After my decompression, my NSG said I had severe crowding and pressure and it was no wonder I had been in so much pain.
