Encouragement offered

Hi everyone

I haven't posted here for a long time, although some of you may

remember me. I have had some free time recently recovering from

surgery (not related to VV) and have been keeping up with the posts

more often, and felt I should put in my 2c worth for those of you who

may be interested, as one never knows when one's own experience may

help someone else, even if it's only one person out of thousands.

After 8 months I am still 99% free of my VV following a course of

around 6 weeks of twice weekly sessions of acupuncture. I say 99%,

as I do occasionally get a twinge and have the odd very short and mild

periods of discomfort, but nothing at all like I had for the previous

2-3 years (and numerous medications, laser surgery, steroid creams,

etc.). I know that not all women gain the same benefits from the

same treatments, but I just wanted to say that acupuncture is another

option worth trying. I am also very much comforted by the fact that

if my VV should flare up again (quite possible - no-one can tell of

course), then I will definitely try the acupuncture route again. The

very fact that I've had relief in the past/present time gives me

confidence and comfort emotionally. I would also like to add that

stress contributes to the problem, from my experience anyway, and I

now take Prozac, get more exercise (not an option when I had bad VV

of

course) and am fairly careful with what I eat (try to be aware of the

low oxalate diet aspects).

Anyway, I wanted to offer some words of encouragement from someone

who's been down this path and found relief that others may find

worthwhile trying as well. I wish you luck and hope that one day a

cure will be found for us all. My thoughts and sympathy are with you

all who are still suffering so much.

Tilly
