Guest guest
I apologize if you receive more than one copy of this message...Please help by giving it your immediate attention and widest distribution! Suicide has become an epidemic in our area among teens as well as adults. This is one way to get funding for this important issue. Take a moment to send a message to your Senators and your Representative. The steps below outline the easy process to follow...Thank you. Vickie/ Central Texas Trauma Council -----Original Message----- From: Hellsten [ mailto:.Hellsten@...] This is being sent across the Suicidology listserver. I haven't looked at this legislation, but at face value seems like a very good idea. THIS WEEK is the time to vote for mental health legislation. Contact your federal senators from your state and your federal representative to vote for: S2639 and HR 5091 (both the same bill, one for the house and one for the senator) This was introduced by Senator Kennedy and Domenici cosponsored by Welstone and appropriates $585 million for mental health and $100 million for suicide prevention. This week is the final vote. To vote: Find: www.spanusa.org Click on: find your senators and representatives Follow instructions on-line and right a simple 2-sentence letter urging them to vote now. (You can write more if you want, but simple is OK, too!!) This is very important since October 6 is the end of this year's deliberation and the slate is fresh again in January. PLEASE DO THIS! **************************** Hellsten, Ph.D. Texas Department of Health Bureau of Epidemiology 1100 W. 49th Street Austin, TX 78756 FAX ****************************
