Guest guest
hi norma,  i cannot wear bras due to other health issues. i get too hot unless things are 100% cotton and no bra is completely 100% cotton. so...... oh by the way i am well endowed at 44dd,  this is what i do, i wear mens white 44 tshirts, they are thicker than camisoles and comfortablab too.  also i wear pj tops like the tshirt style, i have several thermal tops that were pj tops and sue them as my 'bras' again the thermal cotton is thciker and covers teh nipples and i wear one that is comfy but snhg to keep the bounce and hten wear a looser shirt voer it.  i hope this helps. hugs. sharon Subject: clothing To: LBDcaregivers Date: Monday, January 10, 2011, 1:10 PM  All - one of my support group members asked these two questions and, since I don't have the answer for her, I'm hoping one of you can help. Thank you: I wanted to ask you if you know a good source to find clothing for seniors … the staff is having problems getting a bra on Mom and they suggested getting camisoles. My mother is a little large on top and don't want to get some thin, silky camisole. Do you have any suggestions? I'm also looking for a shoe for her … she has a wide foot but I need something with a strap because the shoes keep slipping off her feet. Guest guest
Hi! A few years ago, I got Mom the ribbed tank tops to wear underneath her blouse or sweater. It solves the problem of getting a bra on her and provides coverage. We just dust her with a good, absorbent powder that will help with any moisture that might be on her skin to prevent irritation. Janes are shoes worn mostly in the past...flats with a strap across the top of the arch portion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/_Jane_(shoe) They can be found today in a more modern style. How about the Keds sneaker? Would that work? (My mother hasn't been able to walk for about three years now so we only use slippers on her feet. Her toes are a bit curled due to the Parkinsonism contracture so shoes rub on the portion of her toes that is raised.) Hope this helps. Best wishes, Lynn in Florida ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > > All - one of my support group members asked these two questions and, since I don't have the answer for her, I'm hoping one of you can help. Guest guest
Norma, I loved, loved, loved Silvert's clothing and other products for my Mother (www.silverts.com). Their products were more expensive than other companies' products, but I felt they were worth it. They also had more style to the clothing and I felt my Mother looked better. The products were well made and survived the nursing home laundry very well. Go to the women's footwear section for a wide variety of shoes. Go to the woman's clothing section and you will see a section on bras. There are a couple of bra alternatives. Silver's is located in Ontario, Canada. I also liked Buck and Buck (www.buckandbuck.com). I loved their velour pantsuits. They also survived very well. Buck and Buck also has footwear and bra alternatives. In both cases you can sign up to get their catalogs, which I did. Guest guest
Hi Norman, My mom stopped wearing a bra basically about two years ago. I went to Sears and bought the cottony type underwear tops. They're like a camisole but much warmer. If you can't find those then what about just a lighter weight, but warm tank top that can be worn under a blouse or sweater as you would with a camisole? Guest guest
I haven’t read all the emails so don’t know if this was mentioned but you can also try a nice cotton sports bra. Guest guest
hi  we personally loved dr leonards. and they have a great cotton quilted bedpad i think thy're 9.99 2/17.99, daddy died in 9/05 and i still have and use them regularly and they are still holding out. i use them on super bad days when i have gone thru too many sheet changes with my urostomy bag coming off again and again and again,  sigh. oh and the price of those have only gone up $1 since i last bought them i may 2005, so thats not bad.  i still vote for tank tops, or thermal pj tops for under sweaters and shirts.  hugs. sharon Subject: Fw: Re: clothing To: LBDcaregivers Date: Tuesday, January 11, 2011, 11:45 AM  I can't seem to get these through? Guest guest
As for the camisole, how about the mens ribbed tanktop-type of undershirts? I usually get a catalog with shoes that cover different foot needs...I found it online: http://www.footsmart.com/C-Womens-Shoes-13.aspx Hope this helps. > > All - one of my support group members asked these two questions and, since I don't have the answer for her, I'm hoping one of you can help.
