Guest guest
Limins and others, There is a You Tube video w/ Dr Schilman re: azithromycin for PANDAS (she gives 10mg/kg of azithro once a week). My son is 14 and a big kids (700 mgs). When we first tried azithro at 250 mgs per day it did nothing. We went up to a daily dose of 750 mgs and things were much better in just a few days. We stayed at that high dose for a good month and then dropped down to 500 mgs/daily. We have now done one IVIG and after a few more IVIG's we will drop down to a twice weekly dose (500mgs every 3 to 4 days). Ibuprofen also helps to calm things down. > Limin, this kind of Therapeutic Antibiotic therapy is normally done for 3-6 months, I don't think doctors continue after 6 months.
