Guest guest
Any PANDAS doctors in NJ? Also, I came across this info: When PANDAS is suspected due to the diagnostic criteria being met, we hypothesise that a short period on antibiotics (every time an episode of GABHS infection is confirmed) concurrent with and followed by ongoing nutrient supplementation to promote optimum Brain cell plasma membranes and Brain tissues may help brain recovery and protect against the full development of serious chronic psychiatric disorders. Based on evidence that there is a recovery period (as the GABHS antibodies reduce to normal) after the strep infection is over, we hypothesise that helping the brain recover with nutrients may reduce vulnerability to further damage by the strep antibodies. This is a commonsense approach to a medical problem with no proven medical solutions as yet. (Jacques Duff and Dr. Joe Nastasi Does anyone know which supplements they might be referring to? Guest guest
SMith is a PA in Edison, NJ. He is excellent for PANDAS and is on the PANDAS Medical Advisory Board. He used to be in FLA but recently moved to NJ and is working w/ Dr Neubrander www.drneubrander.com The typical PANDAS treament is to use an antibiotic (Azithromycin or augmentin). If that does not cure it then a steroid burst is added to the antibiotic. If that does not alleviate the symptoms then IVIG is considered. THere are no supplements that help PANDAS. Also, motrin helps
Guest guest
,In another word, ANTI-INFLAMMATORY! My son has been taking 500 mg Zithromax once a week for 5.5 months. The purpose is to stop Strep bacterium replication and down-regulate the immune system. We see small improvements (very small). He did have a few episodes of yeast flare-up. Does anyone know how long it will take to see more noticeable improvements? We are treating chronic Strep, not acute Strep. Thanks.Limin SMith is a PA in Edison, NJ. Guest guest
Limin, this kind of Therapeutic Antibiotic therapy is normally done for 3-6 months, I don't think doctors continue after 6 months. Guest guest
Beginning the second month of taking Zithromax, my son started having excessive mucus in his respiratory system and congested nose. We did have some lymphatic support on board. The conditions only got better very recently after adding Lung and Bronchial Tonic made by Natura Health Products. It seems that his lymphatic system has not been able to drain toxins efficiently all this time.Limin,In another word, ANTI-INFLAMMATORY! Guest guest
High dose antibiotics are used first to treat autoimmune strep. The 2 best antibiotics are azithromycin (10mgs/kg daily) or Augmentin 875mgs 2 X day for an adult. A 2 week trial is done to see if there is any progress. If not then add a steroid burst, again high dose. If that does not help then IVIG is considered. The IVIG reboots the immune system but is very expensive and many infusions may be needed. > Limin, this kind of Therapeutic Antibiotic therapy is normally done for 3-6 months, I don't think doctors continue after 6 months. Guest guest
Yes, unfortunately, relapse rates are high, but it appears that those who stay on treatments avoid relapse. So, it does appear to be a permanent problem. Not sure though. Still too early to know. I have only seen one report of a recovered person who was off of all treatments for years without relapse. I have seen relapse reports happening a couple of years off of all treatments. We keep learning and learning. At this point, there seems to be something going on at the cellular level, meaning not so much the entire organ missworking, but each cell of the organ struggling. This is where the vulnerabilities come from. It still points to pathogens and toxins being the cause, but not sure how yet. Love and prayers, Heidi N " About the story, Saving Sammy. If he gets ill, he still goes on antibX's to this day. The symptoms come back otherwise. So I wonder if its just more less managing it, not getting to the root of it? Guest guest
Limin, If you are considering antibiotics, I will happily share everything I know if you e-mail me. My son actually became OCD on zithromax. We eiliminated OCD with augmentin. I am thinking that the bacteria and spirochetes don't hibernate, they hide inside of worms. We are having better improvements treating worms together with antibiotics. Guest guest
Alinia and the amish herbal dewormer which is a ia formula with additonal ingredients like OoO and pumpkin seed oil. I do plan on using more of the antihelminths, like ivermectin, pyrantel pomoate, albenza. I feel like we got something major, but he still has teeth grinding, so I am thinking there is something else in there that we are not hitting. I also plan on doing high dose CoQ10 and also L-cysteine, as per Hulda protocols for tapeworms and ascaris.
