I am new to the group. My mother-in-law has BPD. She is 82 years old

and has always been enabled by her twin sister (bailing her out of

situations, etc.). My husband is an only child and therefore it's

just the two of us. My mother-in-law has just had total knee

replacement and is now in a rehabilitation hospital. She is being

rude to the staff, sometimes refusing to do therapy, etc., and of

course thinks we are not being good to her. I think we should just

stay away from her for a few days (which is usually what we would

normally do), but is this the right thing to do since she is in a

rehabilitation hospital?

We also have power of attorney, but don't know how long that will

last. She really doesn't want anyone to " control " her.
