Guest guest
Was just reading another text on snake bites and found this interesting: Pain relief for snake bites is ok...Morphine SO4 is recommended. This IS a time when NSAIDS like Toradol are not a good idea, as pit viper venom has a fibrinolytic, anticoagulant and antigluttinic effects. Local lidocaine WITHOUT epi is also ok. For Gila monster bites...I don't know if they are found in west TX or not...Demerol is contraindicated. Apparantly meperidine has a synergistic effect with gila monster venom. Thus, again morphine is drug of choice. Also, pts are not to be given steroids unless a serum sickness-like syndrome is present.
