I don't need a function key. All I do is make sure my mouse pointer is over the

reading pane (and clicked somewhere) or in the list of inbox emails (and clicked

somewhere). I strike the 'n' key and a new message window shows up.

The same thing works with the 'r' for reply.

Would you be more detailed how you do this?

My " N " key used with the function key open a new

window, not a compose window. The " N " key alone

does nothing.
