As an only child and given that my mom has been married 4 times and

changes houses and jobs at the drop of a hat...no one can stay around

long enough to see the negative patterns.

I am the only one who has witnessed her life and the patterns of

distruction and problems that have come from it over long periods of

time.

It is frustrating that I alone see this and I am left with this

knowledge and insight -- seemingly nothing to do with it.

What is it that causes the blockage for a person with BPD from seeing

they have something wrong with their behavior? Can they be helped?

And that's the million dollar question. How is it that they can't see

what we see? Well, can't or won't? It is very frustrating if you are

the common denominator in your mother's life. Is there anyone else

around? Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, long time friends? Are you

really certain that you are the only one that sees it?

One of the things I found solace in was that my nada is so good at

replacing her 'cast of characters' that I am never really missed unless

she's trying to drum up pity or guilt me. Hurrah for my nada,...if she

was unhappy with one husband, she found it quite easy to find another

and leave me alone.

I'm sorry you feel frustrated and by no means am I making light of your

situation. My heart truly goes out to you. It's not easy being in a

spot where you feel like you need to help her turn her life around but

you've got YOU to take care of. What can you do for you?

Kindest regards,

Mercy
