Guest guest
Hi precious Sherry, I am so sorry to hear of your continuing health problems. You have really been down a long road. Was this surgery connected to the Spinal Fluid leaking problem you had in the past? Do the Doctors think you are out of the woods now? I sure hope so. Goodness girl, what a route to have to be on! I had the IV version in the hospital and got instant relief; now I carry the generic of Zofran dissolvable tablets with me everywhere and, because I can't let stomach upset get out of hand, at the slightest hint of nausea I let one dissolve in my mouth and the relief comes within minutes. I don't know how much it costs because I wasn't the one who picked it up and paid for it, but whatever it is, it is worth it! -- His, Sherry daughter/guardian of , dx 4/09 with LBD, living in a nearby NH
Guest guest
Hi again Sherry, That Hiatal hernia surgery is a doozy. I had it and the gall bladder removed at the same time. (No tiny incision)The drain tube was not situated correctly, and didn't drain. I suffered agonies for many hours. I was given pain shots every two hours until I saw a doctor days later. That hospital didn't do a thing for me. The surgery was Friday afternoon, and the doctor didn't come in until Monday. I was 52. The hospital wouldn't call a doctor for me. " You don't want me to wake the doctor do you? " And then leave the room before I could answer. When I saw a doctor I showed him my full toilet, (I was told not to flush is so that they could see what I was doing), and my wet bed, and told him no one would help me. I'll tell you he gave them the riot act. So, I am really glad to hear you are getting better. I don't know what a nissen fundoplication is. I guess I need to look it up. I don't understand why you can't throw up. That sounds bad. Can you still swallow? Will the problem correct when you get better? You have been very special to me Sherry, and that is why I remembered. Most conversations on here are, of course, about LBD, and so one person's story runs into someone else's in my memory. I need to do some research, like right now. Sure do love you dear lady, and wonder how your Mom is doing? Does she still play the piano? I sure have been out of touch. Love a lot, Imogene In a message dated 2/6/2011 6:07:39 P.M. I had 2 hernia repairs (including a large tear in my diaphragm with the hiatal hernia, no wonder I have been short of breath for so long!), and a nissen fundoplication. I was in the hospital for 5 days (and another 3 days several weeks later) with that, and the pneumonia I acquired as a result of the lengthy surgery. It is a life-changing surgery, in that it changed the way I will be able to eat forever, and took away my ability to burp or to vomit, but it truly gave me my life back after so many years of pain and sickness. I am so very very thankful that I was able to have this procedure done, according to my wonderful surgeon, the recovery time is about 100 days until I feel normal, and a year for complete healing and for my body to acclimate to the changes (the surgery was Dec. 1st), but I am feeling absolutely fantastic compared to the last decade! Thank you for asking, this was truly like a miracle in my life and each day I am closer to feeling more like myself when I was in my 30s! (I'm 53 now) Bless you dear Imogene, what a good memory and wonderful heart you have! -- His, Sherry daughter/guardian of , dx 4/09 with LBD, living in a nearby NH

Guest guest
My mom is still doing well, although declining as expected. But she hasn't needed to go to the psych hospital for a med adjustment in a very long time - close to a year I think? - so gradual is the progression of the disease. But I know that can change at any time, too. I can still take her out places but maybe not for much longer, she gets incredibly upset because she doesn't have money, and has started to create scenes in public - something that she would NEVER have done. But she still does well at my house every Sunday, with my 2 dogs (2 of our dogs died last year) vying for her attention . And she loves just sitting at Burger King - where my daughter works - drinking coffee and people-watching too. And yes she does still play, just as well as always! We often play together (I have 2 keyboards next to each other), she loves doing that best. When I'm cooking or something, I will name songs and she just plays whatever I throw at her, right out of her head. It amazes me! Please take care of yourself dear Imogene, I hope that having some of your family living with you will be a help to you, I know you love your children passionately, so it will be good to live that love in your home! -- His, Sherry daughter/guardian of , dx 4/09 with LBD, living in a nearby NH > That Hiatal hernia surgery is a doozy. Guest guest
Dear Sherry, This was uplifting to read. Thanks for posting. Glad you are all doing well. Guest guest
Sherry, So glad to know your Mother can still play the piano. It sounds as if you are having a ball playing together. I always wanted to play, but never took lessons, so I don't play, except by ear (being hearing impaired doesn't help). And, I only use two or three fingers. (silly grin) I've had a lot of sun anyway. Oh by the way I type the same way, too. (oh boy, are we having fun yet?) Yes, I am looking forward to having my children here, but have been informed that it is only temporary. (After all the work I've done? Oh children, please don't do this to me!) This is life. I don't know how temporary, maybe a few months. I'm sorry about your dogs dying, but there again we know they don't live long, and so we suffer the pain, but have to move on, just like with our beloved mates. The scenes with your mother are some that I remember well with my Don. That is why I was glad to have the LBD Thank you cards, thanking people for being patient. It worked well. It also helped many times to educate, because the LBD address was on the card. Love you a lot, Imogene In a message dated 2/8/2011 12:05:56 A.M.
