Guest guest
The funny part about these insanity pleas is that most people that murder are not in their right mind. The only people I can think of that do are the accedental killings, but normally these people arnt in their right mind after it happens(like say a man in the area was cleaning his rifle before hunting season, gun went off and shot his young child who was standing nearby, no point in putting him in prison, he has his own demons to deal with that are far worse then any punishment anyone else could give him). The idea that people can excuse crimes like these because of mental state is beyond me.

Under the law, insanity doesn't mean mental illness. It means being unable to distinguish right and wrong. If she were unable to distinguish right and wrong, she would not have immediately hidden the evidence and pretended that her daughter had just randomly stopped breathing, gone through the pretense of CPR long after she was dead (and while knowing she was dead) and so forth in order to cover up what had happened, nor would she have repeatedly said she did something wrong, etc.
