Guest guest
My mom had tests. There were some where she had to repeat numbers, types of animals, etc . She did very well on those - probably better than I would have. There was also a test where she had to draw a line from an x to another x and on that one she kept going too far because of the visio-spatial thing of LBD. I think that I have heard others post that their LOs did great on the memory test. I do wish you and your brothers luck on taking care of your Mom. Blessings to all of you, Joan > > Hello all, > > A month or so ago my mother's Neuro Psych leaned towards LBD but would not > commit until the neurologist examined her. Guest guest
Tony in the earlier stages they might not fall or have muscle rigidity. My mother falls from the blood pressure issues that accompany LBD but not from lack of balance, and she has no rigidity. I believe I read that 20% of victims don't develop parkinsonism. If your mom does have LBD, then the med intolerance comes with it. Things that she may have taken in the past could be dangerous for her now. With my mom, the right course of meds (at very low doses) have assisted with the hallucinations and delusions, as well as some of the other behavioral issues that come up (paranoia, suspicions, aggression, etc.) as a result of the disease. > Mom is not falling and does not have a gait or muscle rigidity. I don't know of any med intolerance as of yet. -- His, Sherry daughter/guardian of , dx 4/09 with LBD, living in a nearby NH
Guest guest
Tony, In the beginning of my dad's journey with LBD, he didn't fall, have an unusual gait or muscle rigidity, but like your mom he had hallucinations, and memory loss. It wasn't until he was well into the journey (about 3-4 years) that he started showing the parkinson-like symptoms. Rhonda caregiver of father dx with LBD 2004 at the age of 68. Guest guest
I have heard when Dementia starts out with hallucinations, it is most likely LBD. Alzheimer's doesn't normally start out with hallucinations. > > Hello all, > > A month or so ago my mother's Neuro Psych leaned towards LBD but would not > commit until the neurologist examined her.
