Medicare Ambulance Fee Schedule GPCI's for 2001 & 2002

Physician Practice Expense GPCI

The values in the table below will be used to adjust the

New Medicare Ambulance Fee Schedule amounts to

account for variation in the cost of living.

For Ground the adjustment will be applied to 70% of the Fee Schedule Amount.

For Air it will be applied to 50% of the Fee Schedule Amount .

It will be computed as follows:

Local Fee = (Fee Schedule Amout x .7 x GPCI) + (Fee Schedule Amout x .3)

Example:

BLS1 in Alabama

($157.52 X .7 X .871) + ($157.52 X .3) = $143.30

The Physician locality boundaries are different than the

current localities used by Medicare for ambulance

reimbursement. If you have a question about which

locality you will be in, check with your carrier.
