Guest guest
Thanks for sending the info on aspartame. I was one of the guinea pigs in one of the first tests at NIH to try to determine if the side effects and complaints about the use of aspartame were caused by an allergic reaction. Of the 40 people who were studies, I was the only one who showed raised histimine levels after injesting aspartame. It was interesting that when I told my neurologist many years later that I was allergic to aspartame, he told me that the NIH had concluded that the side effects from aspartame were not related to allergies, except in very rare individuals. I then told him that I was the very rare individual who was in that study. I explained that they did the double blind test on me three times to make sure that there was not something else causing the increase in histimine in my blood. But each time, I was 100% on for histimine increases when I took aspartame and lower levels when I took the placebo. I also know that I have allergic reactions (histimine levels measured in my blood) from MSG. After about 6 months of working with NIH, I got too busy at work to keep going back, although I did participate in one study about the effect of MSG and aspartame on asthma when they called to specifically request that I come so that they could compare me (as the wierd guinea pig) to their other test subjects. It is strange that at that time, the researcher told me that I didn't have asthma, but something else that was causing asthmatic reactions. He wanted to find out what it was, but I was too busy to take him up on his offer to be the only subject in a new test. Now I wish that I had, because I believe that they would have found that Chiari was the cause of the asthmatic reactions. Anyway, Thanks for the info.
