Amber,

I completely understand what you are going through, and yes...I experience the

same symptoms when urinating. It stings when my urine touches the skin and

irritates me even more.

I am 23 and got symptoms of this about 5 months ago. Like you I went to my gyn

like 5 times, went to the urologist and they all said that I looked ok and that

it may pass. I finally found a vulvar specialist who was educated on vulvar

conditions and put me on Amytriptiline which helps relieve nerve sensitivity and

I am on 50mg a night. I have seen an improvement. Also I am putting Estrace

cream around the opening but only do it about 2 times a week.

Where do you live? If you live in the Boston area then I have someone who will

NOT tell you that there is nothing you can do. There are many treatments you

can try.

It helps to talk to women who experience the same feelings etc...

Keep your chin up and don't give up!

Hi a,

I am new to this group also. Have spent a couple of weeks looking through all

the messages and trying to learn what I can. I have been having a problem

since 1992 right after I went through menopause. I have been to several

ob/gyns who tested me for a number of things. Also went to a dermatologist. I

have used all the creams I could find and had previously tried many of the

things suggested in the posts. My current ob/gyn tells me I have HPV;

however, I am sure he is wrong. I haven't had sex in 10 years, so that seems

unlikely to me. I have not been diagnosed with vv, but am almost convinced

that that is what I have. Since I am from the Boston area, I would appreciate

any names that you could give me of doctors who would take me seriously so

that I might be able to get a diagnosis.

Hi Amber,

I too was just diagnosed - it's also been 4 months - since

November. I know what you are feeling - very devastated, consumed by

it. I am sorry to hear about your relationship - but know there are

people who are willing to deal with it. My boyfriend has been a

tremendous amount of support and he told me - if I was the one who was

having so much pain that intercourse was difficult, would you leave

me. I knew I wouldn't - so he told me to give him a little credit -

he wants to be supportive. Right now, I feel like crying, almost all

the time I do - not because of the physical effects but the effects it

has had on my life. I really hope you feel better. I think the part

I hate about this is not knowing - not knowing what has caused this so

I can fix it. I have an appointment with a Dr. Gordon in

Phoenix next Monday. I will be sure to let you know what he says. I

too have burning, a little itching. My itching is also in the rectal

area. Anyways, hang in there (I think I'm telling that to you and

myself!!).

Seema
