Guest guest
At our last trip to the Neurologist, she recommended LSVT speech therapy for my husband. According to the Doctor, she reported good results. I am wondering if anyone else has any experience with LSVT therapy, both the " Loud " and the " Big " and what the end results were. Did the therapy have lasting results? Loud is for increasing volume and clarity of speech, and swallowing skills. Big is for movement, though I have not read anything on it other than that. Loud is the therapy being recommended for my husband at this time. There is not much written... it is like the treatment itself is a guarded secret. It appears this is a 16 treatment... done in 4 weeks time. I feel blessed as we have a LSVT trained speech therapist within a half hours drive. This is going to be time consuming, but worth it if it helps the mumbling and low volume. I feel like my favorite word is " What? I couldn't hear you/I couldn't understand you " . I will post our experiences if anyone is interested. Life is becoming one big obstacle after another....... and I am sure it will escalate even more! Guest guest
Many in our local support group have found benefit from LSVT Loud speech therapy. The biggest problem has been patient non-compliance -- either the patient isn't cooperative during the therapy appointments or the patient is unwilling to do the homework. I think the homework is an hour 5 days a week. LSVT Loud speech therapy can also help swallowing, so it's a great idea in LBD. There aren't so many LSVT Big therapists in our area so fewer people have experience with this. But it's a great concept. You can learn more about both therapies and find a clinician at lsvtglobal.com. > > At our last trip to the Neurologist, she recommended LSVT speech > therapy for my husband. Guest guest
I will do that. I had good reports from a former work friend who is a speech therapist. She lives in Ohio, us in Washington. <drat it all> My DH's speech is becoming quite garbled and soft. He is " soft " personalitied, so I guess it is sort of natural for him anyway. He is also becoming more agitated, though it is just beginning to increase. He is also beginning to complain more than in the past of his various aches and pains... arthritis, head, gut, feet, knees, etc. I'm sure this is just the beginning of the complaints. Smile... it does help! (Though we really do need time to voice our complaints, also!) Bonnie At 07:23 AM 5/29/2011, you wrote: > > >Please post your experience, Bonnie.
