Guest guest
it's been awhile but we just got another one... see below... don't click links from posts w/ no subject line in them... > > > > NEVER, EVER, EVER click a link via this board, or in your email for that matter, that has no text w/in the post and no Subject heading... that isn't even SPAM that could very well be a Virus. > > > > Yesterday a link was posted on the board by a member that I believe had their email hacked b/c she isn't a spammer... yet a post was sent from her w/ no text, no subject just a link... I've put her on moderation so no posts automatically get sent to the board & I've sent her a message to let her know what happened... > > > > so always remember whether its through this board or just in your regular day lives... NEVER EVER click a link that is sent to you from a friend or whomever w/out explanation... it could very well be a Virus... Speaking from experience (no I didn't click the link but friend's email was hacked and I was getting emails from her w/ just a link to click, nothing more...) > > >
Guest guest
 i clicked on a . link from what looked like a man on this group it can in a few mements ago. . i should not have. i did not realize a group dealing with medical problems like dementia would have problems like spam ect. . i guess im naive. i mostly have been on other support lists like grief and loss . i guess you have to be careful on any lists on line. i will not click on such links again. thanks for the warning. joy Subject: Re: Links in posts w/ no text & no Subject To: LBDcaregivers Date: Monday, March 21, 2011, 9:02 PM  it's been awhile but we just got another one... see below... don't click links from posts w/ no subject line in them... Guest guest
A lot of Yahoo group boards have had this problem - it's best to be cautious on whatever site you're on - doesn't matter what type of site. These links w/ no text, no subject line also comes via email - if you ever get one, just delete it. Because you clicked that link there's a good chance that your email address has been effected... I've read (but I've never had it happen to myself so not sure exactly) that the thing to do right away is change your password... To be safe we'll keep you moderated for awhile - that way the posts won't go on the board - one of the moderators will delete them before its posted... at least it eliminates the problem to spread to others... Sorry it happened - not much we can do unless we moderate every person who posts here. Guest guest
PS the reason it happens on Yahoo group boards is b/c this site is made up of posts from email addresses... the person who was effected must have clicked the link himself now the email is sent to all of his email addresses (inc. LBDCaregivers@.... and that's how it comes here...) Here's a link that talks about it: http://tinyurl.com/4bfbj3d > > > > > > > > > > > > NEVER, EVER, EVER click a link via this board, or in your email for that matter, that has no text w/in the post and no Subject heading... that isn't even SPAM that could very well be a Virus. > > > > > > > > > > > > Yesterday a link was posted on the board by a member that I believe had their email hacked b/c she isn't a spammer... yet a post was sent from her w/ no text, no subject just a link... Guest guest
I don't know if they are viruses are not, but when you click on a link it usually will take you to some site for viagra or something...but clicking on the link may also send automated messages to everyone in your address book. So...if you are a member of this group and the email address is in your address book, a message will be sent to all of them. Guest guest
A couple other posts came through -- reminder - don't click those links (see below) -- I've put the latest person back on moderation so the posts don't slip by...
