Guest guest
TOP STORY Robbery Suspects Kill Irving Officer IRVING: An Irving police officer was shot and killed Sunday night outside an Oshman's sporting goods store. Officer Aubry Hawkins was approaching the back of the store on Highway 183 across from Irving Mall when three suspects burst through a door and started firing. The police officer and suspects exchanged gunfire. According to Irving police, Hawkins, 29, was shot several times. Hawkins was rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas where he was pronounced dead. He had been a member of the department since October, 1999. The Oshman's store had just closed after a busy Christmas Eve shopping day. The gunmen forced the employees to huddle together in a corner of the store. The workers, who were unhurt, were escorted out two hours later and taken to Irving Police headquarters. They helped police piece together what happened in the store.
