Congratulations! The notebook sounds like an excellent idea. If you have time, you can let us know how things are going. Jane
Guest guest
Congrats! I'm starting my new position soon too (next Friday), and I'm really excited and nervous as well, since I'll have to move into a new office in my department. I'll also be working new hours (7-3:30), instead of my usual 8-4:30 routine. It'll be a nice change, but one I'll have to get used to, since I'm so used to waking up to be at work by 8. However, that extra hour will be nice every afternoon " The truth is, I never fooled anyone about who I really am. People did a good enough job of that on their own. They would create a character of me in their minds, and be thoroughly disappointed when I failed to live up to that. " - Marilyn Monroe Debogorski elcap1999@... job update I can't believe this. I got the music job! I don't know whether to be happy or scared, so am being both. I wake up in the middle of the night feeling anxious, but am hoping I will get used to it. There were a number of other applicants, but somehow I got picked. There is a LOT of administrative work and meetings and PEOPLE. My weak areas. Sigh. It's not just playing the organ. At the end of the year we will all decide whether or not it is a good fit. To help me remember and do everything I need to do, I am carrying around a notebook and writing down EVERYTHING as soon as I think of it. I am also writing a " debrief " of every rehearsal immediately after the rehearsal because if I wait a day or two, or don't write it down, I will forget it, including what music I said we were going to sing! Thanks to everyone who helped me figure out what to say in my letter and tips for the interview. I think I did pretty poorly as an interviewee, as I am not good at answering questions verbally, but they do know me so they were pretty sure of what they were getting. as far as music is concerned. I actually am pretty excited. The job will make me have to practice and learn more, which I would not do if left to my own devices. I have to set up my life so that I MAKE myself do things, otherwise I would prefer to sit on the porch rocker and wiggle my feet and watch the leaves on the trees. I will HAVE to do some rocking and leaf-watching (also grass-watching and " spot on the floor " watching) to decompress. Rhonda

Guest guest
I work on computers for the Department of Veteran's Affairs. The office I was in had quite a few staff members, and the one I will be moving into will only have one other person. I'll effectively be taking over the job of a gentleman who is retiring at the end of the month, and was a very amiable guy. He actually hand picked me for the job, saying what I was doing now, working on a project to maintain billing and goding insurance software, was a waste of my talent, and that I really knew my stuff when it came to fixing computers.
