Guest guest
WAY TO GO MIKEY!!! That's a wonderful accomplishment! Big Hugs, Ayup, he's singing the Blue's Clues song. You know -- " To play Blue's Clue's you gotta fiiiind....a pawprint! And that's our first....clue! " He is doing the hand motions, clumsily, but he's trying! And he is saying " blue " " pawprint " and " notebook. " I think. " Bluh " " puh-pih " or " buh-bih " & variations thereof, and " uh-buh. " With the hand motions it is clear what he means. And he is singing it WITH US. INITIATING interaction. Eye contact. Smiles and laughter. On the other hand, it has become painfully clear that we have a whoooooole lot of speech therapy ahead of us. *sigh* I was really hoping that when he started talking, he wouldn't have pronunciation issues, but obviously he does. He has very low oral muscle tone & it is hard for him to make " p " " m " etc.; also " k " " g " etc. Just one more thing, right? Always one more thing. -Sara. wife to Matt SAHM to nurslings Mikey, 9/14/99, Autism, and Gabe, born at home 5/17/01, GERD http://home.earthlink.net/~thebyksDate: 12/4/01 --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Sydney does this also, but she did this MUCH MUCH later than Mikey's age, Sara!!! TOO COOL!!!! (Madison still doesn't.... sob sob) > > And he is singing it WITH US. INITIATING interaction. Eye contact. Smiles > and laughter. I find that music is one of the BEST ways to interact with my children. It's a good thing they don't attach any meaning to words, because all I seem to do is sing to them. For the time I am singing <a song that they LIKE>, they are watching me constantly, and grinning, smiling, and totally WITH me. Sara, try holding his hands in yours and " dancing " side to side while you sing his favorite song. Guaranteed, he will come to you within the day or two, to dance with you. It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute. > > On the other hand, it has become painfully clear that we have a whoooooole > lot of speech therapy ahead of us. *sigh* I was really hoping that when he > started talking, he wouldn't have pronunciation issues, but obviously he > does. BIGTIME pronounciation problems. Enunciation. All of it. Totally off. Totally sad. And like you said.... always one more thing. Perhaps Madison, if ever she talks, wil not have this problem. <hey, a girl can hope, alright??> GO MIKEY GO MIKEY!!!!
