Guest guest
Hi All You don't hear much from me I guess you can say I am one of those lurkers. I cannot just sit here tonight without saying something even if its just complaining. Its after three in the morning and I am sitting here listening to the ticking of the clock because I cannot sleep. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have been like this now for over a week. The thing is I may know what it is that is stopping me from having a good nite sleep. I sleep in a chair (recliner) because it feels like my throat closes up and the air cannot pass thru. Well now it seems that I awaken from a deep sleep because I cannot swallow. I even woke up one nite because I tried to swallow and couldn't, I sat right up and after a few minutes I manage to swallow my salava. In the meantime though it is very frightening to me. Does anyone have any suggestion. Sincerely, ACM type 1. Diagnosed nearly two years ago. Symptoms started over 12 years ago.
Guest guest
I'm sort of a lurker, too. I haven't yet been formally diagnosed yet, but I have had all of the symptoms and had many sleep problems, too. I tried all the sleeping pills...prescription and over-the-counter. My doctor eventually suggested a safer way to help me. I tried things like aromatherapy (lavendar, heather, jasmine) and soothing tea (chamomile, nutmeg) and then some herbal supplements. I tried something called Valerian root...after 20minutes of taking it I was out like a light. I woke up in the morning and felt great. I didn't feel hung over or drugged. I have many heart problems, seizures, syncope, vertigo, etc and this herb didn't aggravate any of my symptoms. Another thing that my neurologist prescribed to help regulate my circadian rhythm and help me sleep better at night.....Melatonin. I took a small dose, just 1mg, every night before bed for two weeks. This combined with light therapy(essential turning on a special light or going outdoors and the same ti! me every morning for 20-30minutes after waking up in the morning. These things helped me. Other things that some of my friends have tried, are Kava and Chammomile supplements(as opposed to a tea). All of this might be witchcraft, but it helped me out a lot. Even just for my anxiety and depression about being sick all the time....all of these things are quite soothing.
