Guest guest
Good movie. One thing though, I think that many Adult Surviviors of Child Abuse feel that, since they didn't experience some tragic natural disaster, that their experience isn't credible. What about when the trauma is experienced every day over a span of years? That should count as PTSD as well. walkingto_happiness wrote: Hi everyone I just saw the movie Reign Over Me with Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle, and I need to share with the group about this movie. Adam Sandler plays this man with PTSD, and Don Cheadle is a friend who tries to help him. It was the best depiction of non-war-related PTSD I have seen on film. --------------------------------- OMG, Sweet deal for Yahoo! users/friends: Get A Month of Blockbuster Total Access, No Cost. Guest guest
The only criteria for the trauma in PTSD is that it be so searing that it creates the dysfunction. It also doesn't matter if another person would have reacted differently, all that matters is that it affected the survivor in the manner it did. In my view it doesn't matter if it happened once or everyday for a year or a life time. Trauma is trauma, it is an absolute. Be strong Re: reign over me and ptsd Good movie. Guest guest
I understand its just that one of the main sorrows of adult children of abuse is that they often don't get their pain validated. They are told to get over it, move one, so what at least you aren't in an earthquake. I just want to point out the trauma that happens every day without the natural (or man made) enormous disasters.
