Guest guest
Yes, my mom has taken this med via patch for a few years now. She is on a low dose and I believe the patch is changed every three days. It has helped her with pain and she is also getting more pain meds via pill form for days when the patch doesn’t seem to be helping. From: hibbittsjenn@... Guest guest
Hi , My mom currently uses a Duragesic pain patch (Fentanyl) - she's been using it over a year now. She suffers from extreme back pain and we've slowly gone up the ladder of pain killers. Every one of her vertebrae is compromised with several problems. She also had terrible leg and now neck pain since her head is bent down (looks at floor). Percoset worked for a while but then she needed two every 2-3 of hours. Couldn't take Vicodin. We tried morphine to which she had a terrible reaction. The visiting nurse took her right off of it. This was the only pain medication that eased her pain. It was more than I could bear watching her go almost insane from the pain. Ideally no one wants to use such strong pain medication, but it's been a godsend for my mom. My mom has only been diagnosed with LBD less than a month. We have been so confused as to what was causing all these symptoms and part of me was blaming the patch, but now I think I was wrong. LBD just happens - we don't know what causes it. Good luck. Marcie _____ From: LBDcaregivers [mailto:LBDcaregivers ] On Behalf Of hibbittsjenn@... Guest guest
Duragesic patches can be a godsend for those that need them because they can start at a very low dose and increase as needed. you do not have to zonk someone out on pain meds to have them be effective. For most LBD patients this is a blessing.
