Guest guest
My husband has hallucinations that are made worse by his parkinson's med Carbidopa-Levadopa, so be careful to keep the parkinson's meds at a low dose. We find it easier to deal with rigidity from Parkinson's than the hallucinations of the dementia. Guest guest
Lawrence, Sorry for the lateness in the hour, but I hope by now you may have read 's Welcome message with the meds. I did hear that Abilify if not the best for Seniors with Dementia. But if you use it " Go low and go slow. " If any drug doesn't work, stop it and call your Loved One's MD. I found it best to learn to work with the problems as you may have to do that eventually anyway. Wish there were easier answers. As they say, " If you have seen one patient with LBD, you have seen one patient with LBD. " They all are so different and yet so all alike. Hugs, Donna R Cared for Mom 3 years in my home and the last year at a nh. She passed away from LBD in 2002. Guest guest
Abilify almost killed my Mom, it is not approved for elderly dementia patients. My Mom's GP told my Dad to get her off of it after she was taken to the hospital with severe total body shakes, hallucinations etc. It took 3 days for her to wake up, she was taken to a nursing home after that. We brought her back home to Dad's a week ago and her hallucinations are gone and the tremors are almost gone. Only my opinion, but I can't believe any good psychiatrist would write a script for Abilify for an LBD patient. ________________________________ To: LBDcaregivers Sent: Tue, May 24, 2011 4:19:24 PM Subject: Re: Abilify My husband has hallucinations that are made worse by his parkinson's med Carbidopa-Levadopa, so be careful to keep the parkinson'smeds at a low dose.
