That is funny! The reaction of the security people is so late and

OTT too - not like the guy had any more shoes to throw ...

I saw the video too. What amazes me is how quickly and easily Bush ducked! I

could not have ducked like that. I would have stood there like a pillar and let

the shoes hit me.

In Arabic cultures, it is considered an insult, in increasing order of severity,

to point one's toes at another person, to show the soles of one's feet toward

another person, and, worst of all, to strike someone with one's shoe or throw a

shoe.

There is a story about Nazar-idin, an itenerant Sacred Fool, probably a Sufi.

(actually there are many stories about him in Arabic folklore.) In this story,

he went into the mosque and fell asleep, with his feet facing the sancturary.

Someone woke him up roughly and said, " how dare you sleep with your feet

pointing toward God? " Nazar-idin replied, " Where can I put my feet so that they

are not pointing toward God? " This story contrasts the mystic's insight that

God is everywhere, with the religionist's emphasis on symbols and ritual taboos.

a  click -- every day and at no cost to you.

HOW IT WORKS

When you click the " Give Free Food " button (once a day per person) at

http://www.thehungersite.com, this simple action gives over a cup of

fortified food to a hungry person.

It costs you nothing. Funding is paid by site sponsors and food is

distributed by two leading nonprofit hunger relief organizations: Mercy

Corps and America's Second Harvest. (A valid site -- I checked it out -- JP) As

Margaret Mead said, " Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed

citizens can change the world: Indeed it's the only thing that ever has. "

Wow, that was rude. It is a place for autistics to get support. Discussion

topics aren't limited to autism. Wow. We can be bashed anywhere. It shouldn't

happen on a support list.

No, this forum is for autistic people to discuss anything they feel

like discussing.

Master Bates is quite correct though, in that I AM a " dipstick

liberal " . ;-)

Clay, who would like to see Bush and Cheney taken into custody

directly following Obama's inauguration, and then sent to the

Hague to be tried for war crimes. Uh-huh.

I'm still trying to figure out what a graduated rod that indicates

fluid level has to do with either politics, liberal politics or

people with a political viewpoint that one wishes to disparage.

I wondered about that term too, but it was his term, so I just went

with it. The truth is, I'm what is called a " yellow-dog Democrat " ,

with liberal leanings. I don't think Master Bates would approve of

that either. :-)
