Guest guest
Welcome Clare, and all the others I haven't posted welcomes too recently. Gee I think this will make four of us that have or will have five kids? I could be wrong, we might have more. I haven't read ahead yet, but I'm presuming your concerns on what to watch for in the baby have been answered already by someone or more like by many. Since I do not use a sig line I'll list the kiddos and dx's to unconfuse everyone for awhile. , 14, dx'd NVLD, OCD, Tourette's, ADD, Hyperlexic, She is likely Aspergers but she's doing okay with where she is and the support she has so we leave it at that. Gail, 12, dx'd ADHD, OCD, Anxiety w/ Panic attacks, as yet unspecified written language LD, She has many problems and atypical social/behavioral stuff that just don't " fit " . Salli agrees with me that she has to fit on the spectrum somehow but the anxiety and OCD and ADHD confuse the whole issue. 9, dx'd Autism, Tourette's, Cyclical Mood Disorder , practically 4, dx'd sensory modulation/integration problems, and behavioral/social maladaptive issues, but that's it for now. I'm hoping (please oh please) that if we can get access to OT for him (real OT, not 30min 2x a month B/S) that the rigid behavioral stuff and social stuff will improve. Oh yeah, and his diet. , 18mo, speech delay, starting ST next week I think

I have Ebony, who is four, autistic, ADHD, and possibly bi-polar. I also have a 9 month old boy, . Do you have a reason to suspect the baby may be autistic? Or is it general worry? Guest guest
Yeah I agree, I want to find a new doctor. The challenge with that is that we currently don't have insurance. So, ALL the visits, tests, etc are on me. In our area a new doctors generally won't even see a patient without insurance unless there is a cash payment up front. The ones I've called start at $310.00 for the first visit. So, I'm trying to work with my old one, until we get insurance and I can change without going into debt over it. I'm thankful he prescribed Armour, so that tells me he's got one willing bone in his body to listen to his patients. I was taking 175mg of Synthroid and was doing kinda ok on it, but I wanted ALL the hypo symptoms to be gone. He's now prescribed 3 grains of Armour and I've worked up to 2.28 grains so far. The transition period of taking both gave me a lot of weird symptoms, both hyper and hypo, very strange. But, now all of those are gone. I'm monitoring my BP and Temp upon waking and in the afternoon. I am consistently 98.6 to 98.8 in the afternoon. Currently I feel better than I've felt in many years and I'm hoping it will just get better and better. Dawn Sammie Baker wrote: You need to find a new doctor! Guest guest
Well, many folks have insurance but pay out of pocket for the appropriate testings etc. I dont even get my meds from my Endo as she refuses to prescribe even though previous docs of mine have. I just go to her when I want my Free T4 and Free T3 tested. You can get meds online fairly easily. Instead of paying $310 per visit, I would suggest you wisely invest in getting your labs from canary club. $141 for all these is a great price and well worth it. LAB WORK from Canary Club, where the saliva test is for a full spectrum: thyroid (TSH, free T3, free T4), adrenals (cortisol and DHEA), estrogen, progesterone, testosterone. http://thecanaryclub.org/content/view/196/52/ SAMMIE --- " Dawn B. Guest guest
Tell him to get on this board. And then help him get into therapy. It sounds as if he is on the cusp of letting go and has not made the conscious decison to do so. He really needs to understand the dynamics of this illness otherwise he may begin to resent you for standing your ground when he cannot. By all means keep your MIL and SIL away from the kids as much as possible. Your husband may have issues with wanting to protect his sister and being frustrated that he can't figure out at way to do so. I have sort of the same issues with my Narc younger brother. I was always told to " take care " of him or look out for him. Then I harbored tons of resentment when he basically told me to F--off. It was a sick game and the fall out is still manifesting itself even now. It sounds as if the SIL is being made over in the image of the mother. You have got a lot to deal with. Good luck. new to group My name is Lucy and I have just discovered that my mother-in-law' s behavior has a name. My husband and I have been together 19 years. (married 12) His parents divorced when he 13. His younger brother went to live with his Dad. My husband stayed because he was afraid to leave his young sister and mother. (her symptoms have progressivley gotten worse) When we met he was a emotionally beaten down. Her rages came all the time and his anger and frustration was palpable. It has taken years to step away from her but he did. His biggest struggle is the guilt he feels. We have a good life.. Three sweet kids, a nice home, etc. She is without a job, borrowing against her inheritance, and searching for her next husband to solve her problems. To add to it, his sister is living at home with a three year old in the same predicament. (We can't decide if she has BPD or if it is just learned behavior.) They play all the games I've been reading about on this site and in the book Stop Walking.. My husband and I actually experienced relief when we discovered this has a name. Recently things escalated when I had to step in about an issue with our children (sister raged at our 3 yr olds bday party)and they demanded that my husband choose between me and them. He chose me and he has not spoken to them in over a month. I am very happy that he was able to stand up to them and choose his family but I fear that at some point he will resent that I forced the issue (by taking a stand) and caused this separation. I know he knows what is right but he wants to believe that his Mom will change. His favorite saying is, " Can't we all just get along? " I try and try because I want to ease his pain but they see me as the enemy and frankly I just don't want to try anymore. Guest guest
My father was diagnosed with nph, now has shunt; however, I haven't been able to see a difference. His confusion really came on suddenly & hasn't improved with the shunt. It's almost as though he has gone back in time (but not sure where). He has good & bad days as you would expect, one day he talks a bit (but not about the present) & can walk with a lot of assistance; the next day he has no balance & can't walk? Can someone tell me what are the defining symptoms of Lewy Body that separates it from general dementia vs alzheimers? Thank you in advance, Missy
