Guest guest
Hi, It sounds like your dad has Capgras Syndrome. Does your mom know about Capgras Syndrome? It is common with LBDers. My husband had Capgras. Capgras is when there are two of the same person. The LBDer sees an imposter of the original person. ________________________________ To: LBDcaregivers Sent: Mon, March 7, 2011 8:56:40 AM Subject: Today - just venting... Â My sister called my Dad this am to take his pills. Mom got on the phone my sister said she was noticibly shaken. Apparently Dad told Mom, " You need to leave I want to live with the New Rose " - he started seeing more than one of her and apparently maybe even two of her. One of her has a young boyfriend that looks like he's related to her. I've started looking into nursing homes and by the end of this week I will have made my rounds and gotten applications filled out. My sister is spending the day with them. Tomorrow he goes to the Day facility which is really lovely - he has a good time there and comes home, tired but happy. Just needed to vent...I'm worried about both of them. They assured me they could get thru this week.
Guest guest
It can be quite confronting when you experience this for the first time. My husband Jim used to have a variation on this. Sometimes when I would give him a kiss he would say " Do you like kissing strange men? " Another time he asked " Why are you kissing me? " When I told him that I was his wife, he used to laugh a strange cynical laugh as though to say " What sort of a mad woman are you? " Once when I hopped into bed he said " Do you like sleeping in bed with strange men? " This time I laughed and just said " Yes, isn't this fun! " For us, making a joke out of it seemed to work best and helped to break the awkwardness of the moment. Thankfully Jim's sense of humour lasted to the end. Elaine (61) from Sydney Australia Caring for husband Jim (82) who was offically diagnosed LBD Oct 2009, but symptoms began at least 5 years before. Jim died peacefully on 12th February 2011 in hospital after his brain stopped telling him to eat and drink.
