Guest guest
HI Donna I know I've read about the connection to Dhea and the Estrogen and Test. conversion in a lot of places, (mainly those medical types like Medscape or endocrinology sites) but just a suggestion tho, go to http://www.alltheweb.com and type DHEA in the search engine and I'm sure you'll find a LOT of information. Without my lost files , I'm up a creek without a paddle right now, (but still hoping and paddling)..... I know I couldn't take it, as I've tried several times knowing of all it's good benefits, but it left me with extremely tender breasts. I tried it again several months later and it did the same. guess I've got enough hormones, *chuckle*.. but from all I've read I wish I 'could' take it. Dee~ ----- Original Message ----- Dee (or anyone else...), Where can I go to get more info on DHEA being converted to estrogen and testosterone. Guest guest
Hi Whether a person takes DHEA depends on whether they are deficient in it or not. It's not that everyone just takes it. It's a good idea to have a saliva or blood test to determine if there is a deficiency and also to have the Cortisols tested at the same time to be able to more accurately determine what Stage of Adrenal Fatigue is present. I'm in Stage 6, where my DHEA is twice as high as normal, with very low Cortisol levels, so of course I don't take DHEA. People in less severe stages of Adrenal Fatigue where there is low DHEA would most likely need to take it. In fact, as I work backwards through the Stages and come to the less severe stages, my DHEA may actually go deficient there in those stages and then I will have to take it. So it's very dependent on what Stage a person is in, and it's a good idea to get labs done to see exactly what the level is. Also people going through menopause or andropause may have deficient DHEAs whether they are going through Adrenal Fatigue at the same time or not, and may need to take it. Labs can tell what the levels are. It's not a one-size-fits-all thing. There are people here in every stage of Adrenal Fatigue so you'll be able to find someone who can relate to whatever stage you're in, if you are. > >>Another question - does everyone here take DHEA? > I read in your files > that it is suggested to take, but I have heard it > can cause your > adrenals to shut off. Guest guest
When I did my saliva test my cortisol was as low as it could be (day/night) but my DHEA was right up in the middle of range. I figured my ovaries were making enough DHEA for my body buy my adrenals were not making enough cortisol. I have very strong ovaries! One thing I have never had with my low thyroid or adrenals is low sex drive. Mine is just the opposite. Guest guest
My DHEA level (ASI saliva) was 3 (3-10) and my " doctor " said that I didn't need to supplement it. He put me on 12.5 mg HC and said the DHEA should come up on it's own. But if you look at the cascade of hormones, I believe it's the other way around. I'm not sure this guy knows what he's doing (how surprising! -ha). So I decided to start 25 mg of pregnenolone instead of DHEA, as it sounds like it might be safer.. -michael --------------------------------- Low, Low, Low Rates! Check out Yahoo!
