Guest guest
My thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Sharon, the cast is on the "good" leg, the back pain and numbness in my leg is happening on my left side, which is the side that usually gets the MS symptoms. Go figure. Cassy, unfortunately, I cannot take Motrin, Aleve, or aspirin as I am allergic to them..........they will trigger a nasty asthma attack. I do indeed have Epsom salts, thanks for the suggestion, Kate. I am going to slice a big piece of my carrot cake and curl up on the couch with an ice pack for now, and before I turn in, a nice, hot, soaking bath in Epsom salts will end my day. I thought at first it was related to my fall, but its on the opposite side from the one I landed on, and not the leg with the cast on it. The pain is much worse today than it has been all week and the leg is numb, hence, I'm dragging it around. Kind of hard to do with the cast on the opposite foot. Can anyone suggest anything I can do to help relieve some of the back pain? I will not go to a chiropractor and I don't know if heat or ice would be better. Thanks. Guest guest
If I can remember this correctly, Marge...it goes...'heat for pain, ice for swelling'. I think. LOL! Your entire body took that fall, truly. Even if you didn't actually 'land' on it, it took the jarring and the impact, and it is very natural for you to have your whole body sore and ache for some time. Are you able to take a bath? Or would ya not even be able to get in and out? Cause if you could, Epsom salts are good, or some of those great mineral salts they have on the market. Just a thought. Arnica gel or cream is a homeopathic topical that helps greatly with bruises, swelling, sprains, etc--I would definitely put some on.They also have these 'wraps'; I have a couple--you can warm them/heat them in the microwave and place them on strategic spots that ache so bad...You're in my thoughts, take care...hugs, gentle ones, kate PainTo: MSersLife > For the past several days I've been experiencing a lot of pain > in my mid > back and leg on the left side. Guest guest
It could still be from your fall. Anytime I fall I end up with sore muscles and pain all over. When you have an injury it's normal, too, to compensate by walking, moving differently. Maybe that's it. So you are dragging the good leg? LOLOL Sorry, but that mental picture is a doozy! A cast on one leg and dragging the good leg. That's awful! Usually they say MSers shouldn't use heat because heat increases the ms problems. What usually works for you? I use and ice pack on my neck when it starts hurting. Sharon Pain For the past several days I've been experiencing a lot of pain in my mid back and leg on the left side. Guest guest
All right, Marge. So, your good leg is casted? Your bad leg is dragging? And if you take Motrin you'll kick off bad Wheezing attack? Now, there's an image to hold! LOLOL When my Asthma hit me really hard, I was working in a small Mexican food restaurant. It was the day for roasting red chilis. That is some horrible stuff when you're breathing well. The Asthma attack began. My boss (wonderful woman who I love! -- family has been going there for ever, too <gg>)... she took me out back, had me stand in the fresh air, breathing deep, raising my arms up over my head and dropping them again. Over and again I did this. I know I had to look like an asthmatic chicken! LOLOL May the Carrot Cake cure all your woes! ) Challis margaretm123@... wrote: My thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Guest guest
My sister has been in a lot of pain with her neck, back and arm. Everyone keeps asking me what is causing the pain. I don't really know. I'm just assuming that it is caused by the Parkinson's. She can't take any meds for the Parkinson's because of the LBD and I believe her joints and muscles are getting stiff and sore. Her next doctor's appointment is 7/5, so hopefully he can fill us in. Any ideas? Thanks
Guest guest
Just an idea, but I found myself in a lot of pain at night and I wasn't on meds and didn't know what was the problem. One evening I was aware I hadn't been drinking the water I usually did. I was really surprised when I no longer was in pain. It was simply lack of water in my system. Now I remind myself to keep the water in my diet. Hugs, Donna R Cared for Mom 3 years in my home and the last year at a nh. Guest guest
My husband has had severe arthritis in his neck for many years. He has been prescribed SULINDAC, taken twice a day. This has seemed to help immensely, with no seen negative side effects. When he had intense flair-ups he also wore a neck brace till the " attack " subsided. Hope this helps... Marcia C. Guest guest
, though this may seem obvious, I need to mention it just in case. I hope your sister is being given tylenol for her pain. She can be given 500 mg. every four hours if needed which is not excessive.
Guest guest
No, she is on a Duragesic pain patch and occasionally Loratab. Guest guest
, is your mother still in pain with those medicines? My mil takes a gram (2 extra strength tylenol) every 6 hours and it makes a big difference for her without weird side effects. She is also able to take hydrocodone one or two times a day without problems. I’m not sure about other medicines except fentynal she had a very bad reaction to in the hospital so that’s on her “allergies†list. This is a very painful progressive disease and my mil’s doctors have been very attentive to making sure her pain is managed. Now I just have to find out what the heck this itching is about. Guest guest
The pain patch and Loratab seem to be helping, but I just wonder what is causing the pain.
