Guest guest
Hi Lynn and all. Here are two excellent references to the Leep/loop surgery, the first is very graphic if you don't mind that. I hope these work as I have the full articles and haven't checked out the links in a long time and my computer isn't acting right or I'd check, I can't open any URLs *sigh*... Anyway it's often used for those with a higher Pap reading, It's something I don't usually suggest (my opinion only) there are 'some' dangers as in any type of surgery, and since it's usually used for HPV (as a form of scraping or taking off the first layer of tissue of the cervix with an electrical hot wire) the HPV often comes back, as well as possibly leaving scar tissue that 'might' hide a cancerous condition down the road (not too likely either) or other possibilities such as a weakened cervix for future pregnancy's.. As I said I was thinking of it mainly for the HPV virus and bad paps (and I believe it's much overused in THAT case (HPV) but in YOUR case Lynn, that might just be your answer or some form of cryosurgery... BELIEVE ME... just my two cents here! But I do think you'll find these links very informative. (hope they work, if not drop me a line I do have the full articles) Hugs Dee http://www.universityobgyn.com/leep.htm http://lib-sh.lsumc.edu/fammed/atlases/leep/leep.html
