Guest guest
Thanks...it was great that he could laugh about our miscommunication! And I was wondering...as he was strumming...why would I play guitar in the car?? And then I got it! Lori Re: funny things that get me through the hard times Love your story Lori, especially that your dad had such a good laugh out of it all as well. > > We had a recent funny, that hopefully you didn't have to be there for to get the humor of! Dad has been doing fairly well, but is somewhat in and out at times, for lack of a better description (and a longer one), and his voice has really lost a lot of its strength, especially when he is speaking with familiar people. So the other day during a perfectly lucid moment, when Mom and my husband were a little ways away playing cards, Dad asked me if I had played in my car lately. HUH??? I DID have a new car though, so wasn't sure if he meant my music CD's, or what he was trying to ask. So I said I wasn't sure what he said and he repeated the question. " Have you played in your car lately? " Hmm. Umm...he seemed so good at supper....(I was thinking to myself.) I said I still wasn't getting it, and he sort of laughed and repeated himself again. I'm trying SO hard to figure out his message and am even soul searching about whether or not I had shown him the extra buttons in my new car that let me talk on the phone without touching my phone...my brain was really straining here! So one last time, I Ieaned in and apologized for not hearing him, and I repeated what I thought he had said. He started laughing a little harder and shook his head no...nearly laughing to tears, and started making a strumming gesture with his hands while he repeated " Have you played in your car lately? " I paused for a moment...this was really weird.... > > And then the lightbulb went off. " OH!!! " I said! " Have you played your GUITAR lately!!! " I had to laugh, and he was in tears at this point he was laughing so hard...so then of course I had to yell to Mom and what I thought Dad had said and what he really said...which brought Dad to tears of laughter all over again! > > Lori >
