Do I have to start over on Cortef?

Hello, I ran out of Cortef monday afternoon, before my Dr. had a chance

to call in a refill, then my pharmacy had to order it. I have been

without it for 2 days. Will I have to start over with the dosing(ie.

start small and build up to 30)? Or can I just start taking it again? I

was worried about going without it cold turkey. Is it really bad to do

that? I should have it by this afternoon hopefully. I can tell the

difference, my stress level is high. I am afraid I will be back to

square one again. Thanks.

No you should not have to start oiver but should be able to go right

back to your old dose. It is NOT good and even dangerous to run out of

this med. You could have a seruious life threatening adrenal crisis.

---Thanks. I called my doctor before I ran out, but her nurse never

gave her the message until Monday, and I ran out Mon. afternoon. I was

really scared I WAS going to have an adrenal crisis. Next time I am

going to call a week in advance or more.
